New Details Released In Search For Long Island 23-Year-Old Accused Of Murdering His Father

Authorities released new details in the search for a man accused of stabbing his father to death on Long Island.

The incident happened in Rocky Point, at a residence located on Quail Road, at around 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

Suffolk County Police arrived to find Joseph Zoll, age 61, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, homicide detectives named Zoll’s son, Matthew Zoll, as the prime suspect in his murder.

Matthew Zoll is 6-foot-3 and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a small scar under his left eye.

In an update Monday, Nov. 18, police said they believe Matthew crashed a black GMC Yukon SUV at the intersection of 25A and the William Floyd Parkway at around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, approximately 10 minutes after the murder.

Detectives believe he suffered injuries in the crash. The SUV was impounded.
